Inside 90 days, July the 24th

I raised with the intention not to train. Complete rest. Besides, it was cold: we are at the end of July and the temperature, strangely, had dropped to 16°. But then I changed my mind. The weather was gray, very windy, with a strong treat of rain … but who knows, maybe just for this, I drew a lot. Workout shorts, unfailing equipment for measuring heart rate to my wrist, sweatshirt and I left. I went into a large open space not far from home, facing the lagoon. There, the weather was even worse. In front of a green and heavily wrinkled lagoon, puffy gray clouds closed sky, with splashes of rain on my face I trained for an hour in the kata. I trained Kanku-dai. Over and over in all directions . I started slowly. I listened all the signals my body was sending, and as the muscles of back, shoulders, hips and right ankle a bit sore for the session of jogging of the last few days have unlocked I begun to accelerate. Then I ran the same kata “ura”, upside down. This allowed me to evaluate the state of balance of the muscles, tendons and general level of harmony of my body. Then, with the use of a very highly targeted type of breathing I started to amalgamate all the information that my body was conveyed to my brain and vice versa. The strong wind, many times, has made the trial balance. Fine! Towards 40 minutes blended combinations started to send me the feeling of comfort and confidence with the technique in general. I dived into the kata and the kata envelop me. Wind, rain, sweat together with fluid, realized, confirmed technique started to produced in me what I like to call ”the definition of the moment”. Always an eye on the heart rate and time has flown. I watched my sweatshirt, damp of with sweat and rain; I gave a last look at the stormy lagoon, and while a boat, full sail, was flying on the water, with a bow I thanked the Gods of Karate and of the venetian lagoon and with a smile I sent a kiss. Best regards, Christian Gonzales
