Inside 90 days August the 24th
The first part of summer training in view of the European Masters Games of karate is over.
I am now at the International Meeting in Grado. They are present here, among others, the technical director of the Italian national karate team Aschieri, the Italian national kata team in the shape of the Valdensi, Maurino and Figuccio, award-European and world champions, the heavyweight Maniscalco, Loria and Benetello, the Chinese national karate team. In short, a lot 'of irons in the fire. The meeting includes five days of training, six hours a day. The main purpose of my presence here is to assess the current state of my preparation. The significant increase in atmospheric temperature makes it even more difficult and hard and despite the air conditioning is present and functioning within the building, we all sweat the same in an impressive manner. I am in fact forced to continuous changes of clothing because I find myself in exchange for the lesson, with a kimono weigh myself so sweaty and wet on me like medieval armor. I found old friends of the old times when i was part of the national Italian karate team, now very good teachers, and none of us was spared, although sometimes the looks were more than eloquent ....
I can say, however, to be quite satisfied with my level of preparation .... even for the simple fact of being able to finish the day's workout still alive!
Wednesday 24 I have been presented together with a bunch of diehards, as the Italian representative of the "Golden League Italy Competitor Master" which will be presented officially to compete at the European Masters Games karate in Lignano- Italy between the 15 and the 17 of September. A nice group photo has, alas, the moment captured in everlasting testimonial.
For every punch, every kick, block, kata or combat phase I silt every possible detail. All my senses are stretched, ready to respond to and improve even the smallest changes. I am always looking to compare with what I consider the best, fastest, most skilled ones. I just want to reach the European Championship with a clear conscience that I have really done everything possible, both physically, and technically, and mentally. Last positive note, and all credit goes to my dietician: I have reached a healthy weight to get in my weight class. Thank you, you were really smart!
Greetings, Christian Gonzales
